Partners

Working with partners in industry, government, and not-for-profit organisations, the ERBE programme is able to deliver an inspiring and relevant training programme that provides PhD graduates with the skills and knowledge that the sector needs.

Energy resilience and the built environment is a diverse sector, our partners are drawn from a wide range of organisations which encompass government, NGOs, and industry including: construction, manufacturing and technology; energy generation, transmission, distribution and supply; the professional institutions; certification and standards organisations; the health and wellbeing sector; architecture; and more.

Frequently, our partners co-sponsor students and/or provide privileged access to buildings, data and know how. Such support enables our students to undertake projects that would be otherwise impossible as well as assuring that our research has immediate impact. Some partners also serve on our Advisory Board, helping to develop our training programme, identifying the key research challenges and refining our management and partner engagement mechanisms. Further information on our existing partners can be found here.

A highlight of the ERBE year is the annual colloquium, at which all our students have the opportunity to present their work to all our partners. New relationships are forged, and mutually beneficial employment opportunities identified.

As our student cohort grows, we are continually seeking new partners. Please see the ‘Partner With Us‘ page for more information.

My sponsor has been extremely valuable in providing regular support and feedback on applied areas of my research, as well as insights from real-world practices within the construction sector. I’ve really valued being involved in company socials and extra curricular activities such as netball; this has been integral to the feeling of being well-supported in what can otherwise be quite a solitary process.”
