Ceylin Şirin holds a B.Sc. in Energy Systems Engineering and an M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Thermodynamics. During her undergraduate studies, she engaged in both experimental and numerical research on solar-thermal systems. Her master's research explored hybrid photovoltaic-thermal (PV/T) systems, heat exchangers, solar desalination technologies, greenhouse drying applications, and latent heat thermal energy storage units. She adopted comprehensive analytical methods, including energetic, exergetic, economic, and environmental evaluations. Ceylin has been recognized for her academic contributions with the Scientific Publication Award from The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) for four consecutive years (2019–2022). She also received national recognition as the winner of the “Affordable and Clean Energy” category (aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goal 7) at the Turkey Awareness Awards, organized by Junior Chamber International (JCI).
Detailed performance analysis of innovative façade systems in energy efficient buildings

Ceylin is currently pursuing her PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Galway, where her research focuses on enhancing the performance of next-generation façade systems for energy-efficient and climate-responsive buildings. Her interdisciplinary work integrates advanced simulation techniques and experimental methods to address key challenges in sustainable building design. This includes a comprehensive evaluation of building-integrated photovoltaic/thermal (BIPV/T) technologies to support renewable energy integration in architectural applications; high-resolution computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis of Trombe wall systems to assess their impact on indoor thermal comfort across diverse climatic conditions; and detailed laboratory and field investigations into airtight membrane technologies, with a focus on mechanical durability, vapor control, and environmental aging. Conducted in collaboration with industry partner Partel and supported by leading research institutions such as MaREI and ERBE, her research aims to inform the design of high-performance building envelopes that balance energy efficiency, occupant well-being, and long-term material resilience.
